Preliminary Study for Ego Strength of Schizophrenia Inpatients - With Special to Ego Strength Index of the Rorschach -

Abstract
This paper is the study for ego strength of schizophrenia inpatients with special to ego-strength index of the Rorschach. Ego strength of 50 schizophrenic patients was measured using Barron's Ego Strength Scale and Rorschach's Comprehensive system index for the purpose of conforming whether there were any correlations of the Barron's ego strength score and Rorschach responses. The result were as follows: While Barron's Es scale was positively correlated with MMPR's K scale, and Rorschach's S, FT, EBPer index, it was negatively correlated with MMPI's Pa, Si, F, Sc, Pt, Ma, Hs, D scale and Rorschach's Ad, AB, 3r+(2)/R index. No significant difference of the Es score was found between paranoid and non-paranoid schizophrenia. But non-paranoid patients manifested higher scores of Rorschach's FQx-, eb, P, X-% index and lower scores of Rorschach's FY index than the paranoid patients. High-Es subjects manifested higher scores of MMPI's L, K scales and Rorschach's S, FT, Id, EBPer index, but lower scores of MMPI's F, Pa, Pt, Sc, Si scales than low-Es subjects.
